Queen City Quarter gets major DOOH upgrade with curved LED displays
Orange Barrel Media has completed a comprehensive digital signage upgrade at Queen City Quarter, a mixed-use destination in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The outdoor media firm deployed several large-format digital-out-of-home displays as part of the property's broader revitalization.
Formerly called EpiCentre, the three-acre complex now features a curved LED video screen measuring 41 feet wide and 20 feet tall, mounted atop Kitchen + Kocktails restaurant at the north entrance. The display, which boasts a resolution of 750 x 1,560 pixels and a 24-foot radius, replaced static advertising signage at the corner of East Trade and South College streets.
Flanking the curved screen are two vertically oriented blade signs, each reaching 24 feet 5 inches tall by 12 feet 7 inches wide with 930 x 480 resolution. These 8mm Empire Exterior LED units replaced lower-resolution screens originally supplied by SNA Displays in 2013. The upgrade also removed a central LED marquee that previously sat between the two blades, resulting in displays that are roughly 6 feet taller and significantly thinner than their predecessors.
A three-sided display system wrapping the intersection of South College and 4th streets also received an upgrade, swapping its older 16mm outdoor LED for 8mm technology. The system integrates two digital faces measuring 22 feet 10 inches by 11 feet 7 inches (870 x 440 pixels) alongside a static panel.
Andrew Yee, senior director of construction at Orange Barrel Media, noted the company's enthusiasm for expanding in Charlotte and highlighted SNA Displays as a trusted partner. Pete Simon, director of OOH for SNA Displays, emphasized that the thinner cabinets and tighter pixel pitch give the property a sleeker, more contemporary appearance. Local firm Rite Lite Signs handled the on-site LED installation.
