WARC forecasts that retail media advertising will reach $200.4 billion in 2026, with US growth significantly exceeding that of Europe.
According to the latest WARC media forecast, it is projected that global retail media advertising spending will reach $200.4 billion in 2026, increasing further to $223.4 billion in 2027. These figures represent a significant acceleration in a channel that has evolved rapidly from in-store promotions to a sophisticated digital ecosystem encompassing sponsored product listings, display advertising, and connected TV locations on retailer-owned platforms. The forecast positions retail media as the third-largest digital advertising channel globally, surpassed only by search and social media in total spending. WARC's methodology is based on financial disclosures from the main retail media networks, including Amazon Advertising, Walmart Connect and Instacart Ads, along with survey data from media agencies and brand advertisers. However, since these projections are based on a single analytical framework, they should be interpreted as well-founded estimates rather than definitive market measurements.
