Planar sues Neoti for claims about TAA compliance in purchasing guidance

Planar Systems has filed a lawsuit against Neoti, LLC regarding statements about country of origin and Trade Agreements Act (TAA) status for certain Planar display products. The dispute centers on Neoti's "Purchasing Guidance for TAA-Compliant LED Video Walls", published April 16, 2026, which lists Planar Systems as "Non-compliant" and describes its production as "China with assembly in Oregon". Planar asserts that these characterizations inaccurately represent both its manufacturing operations and its portfolio of products that meet TAA requirements.

The Trade Agreements Act of 1979 governs how federal agencies procure products, and requires that goods purchased with federal dollars be manufactured in the United States or substantially transformed in a country that is a signatory of a qualifying trade agreement with the U.S. For purchases of LED video walls funded with federal dollars, TAA compliance is mandatory, not optional. The practical implication: screens manufactured in China do not qualify, regardless of whether they are sold by an American company or marketed as "designed in the USA".
